Camarillo, Calif., Oct. 8, 2007鈥敽=巧缜 is hosting its 2007 University Open House event on Saturday, Oct. 13 in the South Quad of the 海角社区CI campus. The Open House will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and prospective students, their families, and members of the community are welcome to visit the campus and learn more about 海角社区CI.
This event is free and open to the public. On-campus parking will be limited on this day. Attendees are encouraged to use additional parking, with free shuttle service (VISTA bus), from one of the following areas: Camarillo Metrolink Station and Oxnard Centerpoint Mall.
Campus tours will be offered including special tours of the studios used for the University鈥檚 Art Program and the state-of-the-art laboratories used for science instruction. There will also be a University Marketplace featuring student clubs and organizations, as well as the many programs offered by 海角社区CI including the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute aimed at learners 50 years of age and greater, and the Educational Opportunity Program geared toward students whose educational and economic circumstances have limited their college opportunities.
鈥淭he University Open House is the one day each year that anyone who has an interest in learning about 海角社区CI can visit our campus and talk with members of the admissions staff without making an appointment,鈥 explained Lori Macdonald, coordinator of early recruitment at 海角社区CI.
This year鈥檚 University Open House has two new elements. There will be a computer lab set-up for prospective students to use to apply for admission to the University. The computer lab will be staffed by a 海角社区CI representative to answer questions about the application process. Additionally, prospective students will have the opportunity to speak directly with a pre-admissions counselor and have his or her transcripts reviewed without making an appointment.
鈥淧roviding pre-admissions counselors to review prospective students鈥 transcripts on a Saturday allows those who have other obligations during business hours an opportunity to drop-in without taking time off of work,鈥 Macdonald said.
