Camarillo, Calif., October 16, 2007 -- On October 15, 2007, at 10:41 p.m. º£½ÇÉçÇø Channel Islands Police officers responded to a call for assistance originating from an emergency phone located on campus in parking lot A7. Police officers met with a 24 year-old female student who told them she had been assaulted in the Hub parking lot a few minutes earlier.

After interviewing the student, officers learned she had walked from the Library to her vehicle, parked in the Hub parking lot, and arrived there at approximately 10:35 p.m. At that time she noticed a black Ford Mustang driving in the lot that parked near her vehicle. As she began to enter her car a white male got out of the Mustang, grabbed hold of her with his left arm and then put a knife blade to her neck. The male then instructed her to get into his car. The female was able to break free of the man's grip, get inside her vehicle, and shut the door. When she looked back for the male he and the black Mustang had left the parking lot. After a few minutes she drove from the parking lot and made her way to parking lot A7 where she used the emergency phone to contact the police.

Police officers immediately responded to assist the student, and upon learning what happened set up a perimeter around campus and initiated a comprehensive search for the vehicle and suspect.  The search effort included patrol deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, and a Sheriff's Department helicopter was also used to search remote areas bordering the campus.  The search did not result in locating the vehicle or the suspect.

Officers with the University Police Department are continuing to investigate this attempted kidnapping and are looking for a white, male, in his late 20s, approximately 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, short brown hair, thick eye brows, a well trimmed goatee, and acne. He was wearing a plain black t-shirt, baggy blue jeans, and skateboard style black sneakers. He was last seen driving a black newer model Ford Mustang, tinted windows, with no visible damage.

The female student sustained a minor injury and did not request medical attention.
