Camarillo, Calif., Dec. 4, 2007—º£½ÇÉçÇø Extended Education department has put out a call for innovators to potentially partner with students in the Master of Biotechnology and Master of Business Administration dual degree program at º£½ÇÉçÇøCI.

The º£½ÇÉçÇø Channel Islands MS Biotechnology and MBA Program will select a small number of innovators’ proposals to be part of course study that will teach students to develop business strategies and business plans based on innovators’ proposals. The work will be performed by students and professional advisors, and º£½ÇÉçÇøCI faculty will oversee the work. The initiative is sponsored by the º£½ÇÉçÇø Biomedical Research Incubator.

Innovations presented by professionals—physicians, engineers, researchers, and faculty—and graduate and undergraduate students from area colleges and universities are eligible. Innovations must be in the medical field or in biotechnology. Preference will be given to innovators from Ventura County.

There is no fee for submitting innovations. The innovators who are selected for the initiative will receive a business analysis and business plan for a fee of $6,900. Additionally, one proposal chosen will be awarded the development of a business strategy and plan free of charge.

Work performed by the biotechnology and business graduate students will be completed by May 30, 2008.

The MS in Biotechnology and MBA is an innovative dual degree program offered by º£½ÇÉçÇø Channel Islands to meet the regional and national needs of a well-educated workforce in the biotechnology industry.
