Camarillo, Calif., Feb. 13, 2008鈥敽=巧缜 President Richard R. Rush has announced Julia C. Wilson as the Vice President for University Advancement. Wilson will begin on March 3.

Wilson comes to 海角社区CI from the Grameen Foundation where she served as the foundation鈥檚 Executive Director of Development for the West Coast region.
The Grameen Foundation works closely with the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh to replicate their model of microfinance in countries all over the world. Professor Muhammad Yunus, founding board member of the Grameen Foundation, and the Grameen Bank were awarded the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts to create economic and social development and assist large populations to break the cycle of poverty.

鈥淛ulia comes to 海角社区CI with a breadth of development experiences that have given her the opportunity to work in concert with a variety of individuals nationwide and internationally,鈥 said University President Richard R. Rush. 鈥淲e are eager to welcome her to the region and introduce her to the community, business, and industry this University serves.鈥

In her new role as Vice President for University Advancement at Cal State Channel Islands, Wilson will oversee all development and fund-raising activities for the University, and work with the University鈥檚 Communications & Marketing unit to support those endeavors.

Prior to her work with the Grameen Foundation, Wilson was the Chief Executive Officer for CommNexus, a 250-company sponsored trade organization serving the telecommunications industry in San Diego. Wilson also served as the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at San Diego State University and as the Director of the Western Regional Office/Regional Campaign Director with Arizona State University.

鈥淢y fund-raising career started in the university. Over the past 20 years I have had the unique opportunity to apply my development skills in a variety of settings, gaining valuable perspectives in each. And, now all roads lead me back to 海角社区CI and I am thrilled to join this young, dynamic team of professionals and academics,鈥 Wilson said.

Wilson has served on numerous boards of directors for foundations including the High Tech High Foundation, the San Diego World Trade Center Board, and she is involved with the San Diego Opera and the MOCA Annual Gala.

Wilson holds a master of Health Services Administration degree from Arizona State University; a master of arts degree in Child Psychology from Arizona State University; and a bachelor of arts degree in Biology/Medical Technology from Anderson University.
