Camarillo, Calif., Nov. 18, 2008鈥擳wo 海角社区 students won top honors at the 2008 海角社区 Media Arts Festival, which was held on the 海角社区 Channel Islands campus Friday, Nov. 7 through Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008. It is the sixth consecutive year that 海角社区 Channel Islands students have earned top honors.
The annual event allows 海角社区 students to present their film, video, and interactive media work for critical review.
海角社区 Channel Islands student winners are Cassandra Evans who won first place, a monetary award of $500, and the prestigious Rosebud award. Second place in the interactive media category went to Michael Arroyo for his Website: .
The Media Arts Festival showcases student work in film, video, and interactive media from all 23 campuses of the California State University system and students from all of these campuses compete for awards at the festival which showcases those selected as best in the state. The festival also featured seminars with leading industry experts and events to prepare students to pursue careers in the entertainment and media industries.
Entertainment industry professionals participated in the judging as well as leading seminars and workshops. Industry sponsors and seminars included DreamWorks Animation (Bee Movie), Casting with April Webster (Alias, CSI, Lost, Mission Impossible III, The Patriot), Acting & Directing with Gregg Daniel from The Actor's Studio, Producing with Aaron Ryder (The Prestige, Memento, Donnie Darko)聽 Warner Brothers Studios, the Entertainment Industry Development Corporation, and the International Cinematographers Guild.
