Camarillo, Calif., Sept. 9, 2008—The /CI Art Program presents “Truth is Stranger than Function,” an exhibition featuring recent works created by the Art Program faculty. The exhibition will begin Thursday, Sept. 11 and continue through Thursday, Oct. 30 at the John Spoor Broome Library on the CI campus.

An artists’ reception will be held at the John Spoor Broome Library from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18. The public is invited to attend.

Artwork on display will consist of works in painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, photography, graphic design, costume design, digitally generated imagery, and video. The entire art studio faculty will participate in this exhibition, as well as art historians who will present scholarly works in an innovative context.

“This exciting exhibition presents the University community and Ventura County residents with the opportunity to view original, innovative artwork created by the accomplished /CI art faculty. It will illustrate the diversity of the faculty through a wide range of artistic approaches, philosophies and media. These talented individuals are all practicing artists and scholars recognized in their respective fields in addition to being outstanding teachers,” said Jack Reilly, Chair of the /CI Art Program.

The roster of artists and art historians participating in the exhibition includes Jack Reilly, Matthew Furmanski, Liz King, Luke Matjas, Catie Mihalopoulos, Beverly Decker, Christophe Bourely, Amiko Matsuo, Sean Dowey, Michael Steffen, Rachel Myers, Larry Lytle, Aldo Figueroa, Peter Harper, Kathleen Quaife, Mick Reinman, and Jim Graca.

The John Spoor Broome Library features numerous dramatic exhibition areas located throughout the landmark building that was designed by world-renowned architect, Sir Norman Foster. The University Library is located near the center of campus on University Drive.

Limited parking is available on campus and is $6 for a daily permit. Free parking is available at the Camarillo Metrolink Station/Lewis Road parking lot in Camarillo with shuttle service to and from the campus. Riders should board the /CI VISTA Bus and the fare is $1 each way. Buses arrive and depart from the Camarillo Metrolink Station every 30 minutes from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday.
