Camarillo, Calif., Sept. 23鈥擲tudents at 海角社区 will hold a screening of the movie 鈥淕o,鈥 to raise awareness about the displacement of families and the devastation of the long-term war in northern Uganda.

The screening event will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 29 in Malibu Hall 100. There will be a question and answer discussion following the film. The event is free and the campus community and public are invited.

The filmmakers of 鈥淕o鈥 established the non-profit organization of Invisible Children, Inc. following their visit to Africa and the production of their film 鈥淚nvisible Children: Rough Cut.鈥 This film exposed the tragic realities of northern Uganda鈥檚 night commuters and child soldiers. The film was originally shown to friends and family, but has now been seen by millions of people. The overwhelming response has been, "How can I help?" Invisible Children, Inc. was created, giving compassionate individuals an effective way to respond to the situation.

Invisible Children, Inc. works to transform apathy into activism. The organization鈥檚 media creates an opportunity for people to become part of a grassroots movement that intelligently responds to what鈥檚 happening in the world.

The screening event is sponsored by 海角社区CI鈥檚 Student Programming Board of ASI, and all funds raised through sales of Invisible Children merchandise will support Ugandan families affected by displacement.

Limited parking is available on campus and is $6 for a daily permit. Free parking is available at the Camarillo Metrolink Station/Lewis Road parking lot in Camarillo with shuttle service to and from the campus. Riders should board the 海角社区CI VISTA Bus and the fare is $1 each way. Buses arrive and depart from the Camarillo Metrolink Station every 30 minutes from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday.
