Camarillo, Calif., Sept. 30, 2008鈥擳he outdoor plaza of the John Spoor Broome Library on the 海角社区 campus will be the site of the Ninth-Annual President鈥檚 Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 4. The event鈥斺淎 Homecoming Celebration鈥濃攊s a celebration of the University鈥檚 accomplishments, and it will include the presentation of the 海角社区 Robert J. Lagomarsino Award.

William J. Kearney has been named the 2008 recipient of the Lagomarsino Award. The award will be presented to Kearney at the President鈥檚 Dinner event. The award, named in honor of the Honorable Robert J. Lagomarsino, a former United States congressman and a longtime supporter of the University, is presented to an individual who has contributed to and supported 海角社区.

Kearney鈥檚 involvement with the University began in 1999 when he and his wife Elise became founding members of the President鈥檚 Circle. Currently, Kearney is Chairman of the University鈥檚 Foundation Board of Directors and has served on the Board since 2003. Kearney has been active with several organizations in Ventura County including Casa Pacifica, United Way of Ventura County, and Rubicon Theatre. In addition, he is a long-time member of the Downtown Ventura Rotary. Kearney is the First Vice President of Private Wealth Management at Merrill Lynch in Oxnard.

In addition to the presentation of the Lagomarsino Award to Kearney, the event will feature a sumptuous feast, special guest appearances by the University鈥檚 Performing Arts students as well-known literary and historical characters, a bazaar, live music, and dancing. Musician Grant Geissman, a world class guitarist/composer who has recorded with many top artists, will perform live in the Library鈥檚 Reading Room before dinner is served. Evening entertainment will feature the Platinum Groove.

The 海角社区CI President鈥檚 Dinner is the premier fund-raising event of the year for the University.
