Camarillo, Calif., June 4, 2009 鈥 海角社区 President Richard R. Rush announced the appointment of Amy Wallace as Dean of University Library. Wallace will assume her duties on July 1.

Wallace joined the Channel Islands campus in June, 2003, as Head of Public Services and Outreach, and has been serving as Interim Dean of University Library since July 2008 when former dean, Paul Adalian, retired.

鈥淐al State Channel Islands is fortunate to have a person of Amy Wallace鈥檚 quality and experience lead our library. Her record of achievement and her commitment to the work of students and faculty have prepared her well to carry forward the library鈥檚 central role on this campus,鈥 said University President Richard R. Rush.

In her new role as Dean of University Library, Wallace will guide strategic and operational planning for the Library and seek innovative ways to foster information literacy, expand the Library鈥檚 collection, and maximize the use of technology. 鈥淚 look forward to drawing upon my experience to the lead the Library鈥檚 amazing team of innovators and to promote their endeavors, which are breaking new ground in the field of library and information science,鈥 said Wallace.

During her tenure at 海角社区CI, Wallace has maintained an outstanding record of teaching, scholarship, and service. In addition to her many professional affiliations, Wallace currently serves on the Board of the American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIST), the Board of LOEX: Clearinghouse for Library Instruction, and as vice president for the California Association of College and Research Libraries. Wallace is a recipient of the ASIST Cretsos Leadership Award and a member of the Phi Beta Mu Library and Information Science Honor Society.

Prior to joining the library faculty at 海角社区CI, Wallace held library positions at the University of California, San Diego; The Claremont Colleges, and Chapman University. Wallace holds a master鈥檚 degree in library and information science from San Jose State University; a master鈥檚 degree in history from San Diego State University; and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in history from San Diego State University.
