Camarillo, Calif., June 5, 2009 – The Art Program at has announced the opening of its next exhibition entitled “Summertime Blues” at the new Ventura gallery location. The exhibition will run from June 18 through August 23. An opening reception will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, June 18. CI Art Gallery/Ventura is located at 21 California Street, on the ground floor of the historic Earle Stanley Gardner building on the corner of Main Street and California Street, Ventura, CA.
This group exhibition will feature approximately one hundred artworks (painting, sculpture, photography, and design) created by CI art students, alumni, and faculty artists. Much of the work exhibited will be thematic based, emphasizing various aspects of light, color, and subject matter related to the essence and attitude of summertime in Southern California.
“The Art Program thanks Mark and Kathy Hartley for their generous donation of the Ventura gallery space to the University. This high-profile exhibition venue is an amazing opportunity for CI students and alumni to showcase their talents. Art sales from the first month have been quite healthy and the Ventura community has really stepped up to help support this exciting new cultural venture in the downtown area,” said Jack Reilly, Chair of the CI Art Program and Professor of Art.
In addition to great art on exhibit, for the June 18 opening reception, Southern Chic Catering Service will be providing “exquisite southern cuisine.” Music for the reception will be provided by “The Tony Randall Experience.” The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
Regular gallery hours: Tuesday through Thursday 12- 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday 12-9 p.m., Sunday 12-5 p.m. Closed on Mondays.
