Camarillo, Calif., August 18, 2005 鈥 海角社区 announces the hiring of Philip McGough as the new associate vice president for Faculty Affairs and 12 new tenure track faculty members, four of whom have worked previously as lecturers at the University.

鈥淲e鈥檙e very pleased with these appointments,鈥 said Richard R. Rush, 海角社区CI president. 鈥淒r. McGough has a distinguished record both as a faculty member and as a university administrator. Our new faculty members bring a high caliber of professionalism to our campus. Each of them has an extensive background in their specific academic areas as well as experience in working in a collaborative environment. They will all complement the University鈥檚 interdisciplinary approach.鈥

McGough, who has an MBA, Ph.D., and J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley, will oversee faculty recruitment, hiring, retention, tenure, and promotions processes, as well as address faculty issues, concerns, personnel policy, and other administrative matters. Before coming to 海角社区CI, McGough听 was a professor in the School of Business and Economics at Sonoma State University for 17 years. Prior to that, he had taught at the University of San Francisco and had served as assistant dean for Academic Affairs at the Haas School of Business at UC, Berkeley.

The new faculty members are Damon Aiken, Ph.D., assistant professor of marketing, previously employed at Pepperdine University; Sean Anderson, Ph.D., assistant professor of environmental science and resource management, previously employed at Stanford University; Manuel Correia, Ph.D., assistant professor of education, previously employed at the San Francisco Unified School
District;听 Elizabeth Hartung, Ph.D., professor of sociology, previously employed at California State University Fresno; Tiina Itkonen, Ph.D., assistant professor of education-special education, previously employed at the University of California Santa Barbara; Bradley Monsma, Ph.D., professor of English, previously employed at Woodbury University; Gregory Wood, Ph.D., assistant professor of physics, previously employed at California State University Northridge; and Cynthia Wyels, Ph.D., associate professor, mathematics, previously employed at California Lutheran University.

Faculty members who were previously employed at 海角社区CI are: Andrzej Bieszczad, Ph.D., assistant professor of computer science; Blake Gillespie, Ph.D., assistant professor, biochemistry; Kimmy Kee-Rose, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology; and Bob Mayberry, Ph.D., associate professor of English.

听McGough and new faculty members begin their duties this fall, according to Ted Lucas, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. 鈥淲e have an exceptional associate vice president for Faculty Affairs,鈥 Lucas said. 鈥淒r. McGough has an extensive academic, administrative, and legal background. We鈥檙e very fortunate to have a person with this depth of experience.
