Camarillo, Calif., June 22, 2006 - º£½ÇÉçÇø is planning to close the campus over three weekends this summer to replace the main electrical switchgear to the campus. According to University officials, this is the beginning of necessary upgrades to a dated infrastructure system, and the best time to address this issue is during summer, as there will be no impact to the student population.
During the brief shut downs, the campus community as well as the general public will be asked to remain off campus, for safety reasons, as there will be intermittent power shut downs, with the exception of the maintenance of certain life-safety functions.
The dates of the planned power shutdowns are:
Thursday, July 20, 6 p.m. - Sunday, July 23, 6 p.m.
Friday, July 28, 6 p.m. - Sunday, July 30, 6 p.m.
Saturday, August 5, 12:01 a.m. - Sunday, August 6, 6 p.m. (if needed)
The closure of the campus will not impact the planned Camarillo Art and Jazz Festival events scheduled to take place on the º£½ÇÉçÇøCI campus, the weekend of August 4th, as generators will be utilized as needed.Â
