What is Naloxone?
Naloxone is a safe and effective medication that acts as an opioid antagonist, or
blocker, which can reverse an opioid overdose. Naloxone is not addictive and cannot
cause harm to anyone, including those not suffering from an opioid overdose.
Opioids are a type of drug that is typically used for the relief of pain. Some common examples of opioids include oxycodone (OxyContin), hydrocodone (Vicodin), morphine, methadone, heroin, and fentanyl.
What are fentanyl test strips?
Fentanyl test strips are a form of drug testing technology designed to detect the presence of fentanyl in drug samples prior to ingestion. Click here to learn more about how fentanyl test strips are used.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is a major contributor to fatal and nonfatal overdoses in our country. Illicit fentanyl has been found in many drugs, including heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, and counterfeit pills. The presence of fentanyl in these drugs increases the likelihood of a fatal overdose.
