    Kem A. French is the Director of Inclusive Student Services and the Multicultural Dream Center at º£½ÇÉçÇø Channel Islands. Previously, Kem served as the Coordinator of Student Leadership Programs on campus(2016-2019). Kem earned a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. Kem started his professional career as a Prevention Specialist with a position funded through the CDC providing services to 72 counties throughout Central and Eastern Kentucky. Ultimately he decided that Student Affairs would allow him more opportunities to affect change and support students. He worked and developed programming for Housing and Residential Education at The University of Kentucky, Berea College, and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Kem is passionate about inclusion, social justice, and empowering individuals through self-efficacy and education.

    Crystal Delatorre is the Coordinator of the Latine Cultual Center at º£½ÇÉçÇø Channel Islands. She was born and raised in Oxnard, California, and remained in her community to obtain her education. She earned her A.A. Degree in General Studies: Social and Behavioral Sciences from Oxnard College, B.A. Degree in Liberal Studies from º£½ÇÉçÇø Channel Islands, and her M.S. Degree in Counseling and College Student Personnel from California Lutheran University. She is a proud first-generation college student, who is now a first generation professional. Her passion lies in helping her community and supporting first generation, underrepresented and underserved students. Her wide scope of experience and wealth of knowledge allows her to support students in recognizing the importance of building connections on campus, accessing resources and building mentoring relationships to support their overall academic success while in college.

    Brandon Langford is the Coordinator of the Inclusive Student Services Center at California State University Channel Islands. Brandon was born and raised in Barstow, California where education was stressed by his community and family as a way to elevate oneself. As a first- generation Mexican-American college student, Brandon achieved his goal to go to college. Brandon went on to the University of California Santa Barbara after high school where he graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Ethnomusicology and a Minor in History. Brandon then began working at UCSB in Housing after graduation as well as working for a non-profit based out of Oakland, California. After working in the field of higher education and student affairs, Brandon continued his educational journey by obtaining his Master’s of Postsecondary Higher Education as well as a Certificate of Advanced Study in Intercollegiate Advising and Support from Syracuse University in New York state. Brandon worked in Health Promotion as well as interning for a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion office and a non-profit based in Syracuse, New York. After completing his Master’s Brandon returned home to UCSB in housing for 3 years. Now Brandon is currently serving Inclusive Student Services in the Coordinator position and loving every bit of º£½ÇÉçÇø Channel Islands! Brandon continues to make education a priority and is currently obtaining his Doctorate in Higher Education at California Lutheran University with the hopes of one day becoming a Dean of Students, Associate Vice Chancellor or a Professor on a college campus. Being from communities that struggled to navigate life, Brandon makes it his mission to help students wherever he can and the community at large. Brandon’s wide knowledge base and work in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties has proved to build many lasting and impactful relationships to help students and others in a multitude of ways. You can always see Brandon greeting and welcoming everyone on campus and that is his core of making sure everyone is seen and welcomed.

    L.Roy Spence proudly serves as the Coordinator of the Black Cultural Center at California State University of Channel Islands. L.Roy is dedicated to the holistic development of Black students, uplifting them to recognize their sovereignty amidst adversity and oppressive institutional systems.
    L.Roy was born and raised on Chumash Land in Oxnard, CA and maintains a deep connection to their ancestral roots in Belize, St. Vincent, and Mexico. As a proud first-generation college graduate, they earned a B.A. in Communication with an emphasis on race, class, and gender studies from the University of Southern California. L.Roy's professional background beautifully blends their love for education, transformative justice, and the natural world. Throughout their career, L.Roy has dedicated themselves to building community, fostering inclusivity, and advocating for equity and justice. They are committed to keeping humanity and liberation at the center of their work which has shaped their holistic approach to supporting students.
