º£½ÇÉçÇøCI is dedicated to ensuring a safe, secure, and inclusive environment for all members of our campus community. Public safety is a shared responsibility, encompassing multiple departments that work together to protect life, property, and the well-being of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Through collaboration, prevention, and preparedness, we create an environment where everyone can thrive. Public safety on the campus is built upon the efforts of five key components:
- University Police – Our department provides professional law enforcement services focused on community-oriented policing, crime prevention, emergency response, and maintaining a safe environment. Our officers are dedicated to fostering trust, transparency, and accessibility while responding effectively to incidents and concerns.
- Parking & Transportation Services – Safe and efficient transportation is vital to campus operations. This team ensures the orderly flow of traffic, pedestrian safety, parking enforcement, and alternative transportation options that contribute to the overall security and accessibility of our university.
- Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) – Maintaining a safe campus includes identifying and mitigating hazards related to health, laboratory safety, hazardous materials, and occupational safety. EHS ensures compliance with regulations, promotes a culture of safety, and provides training to minimize risks.
- Risk Management – Protecting the university’s people, assets, and operations involves assessing potential risks and implementing strategies to minimize liability. Risk Management works to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks associated with campus activities, ensuring a safer environment for all.
- Emergency Management – Preparedness and resilience are crucial to campus safety. Emergency Management develops and implements plans for crisis response, disaster preparedness, and recovery efforts. Through training, coordination, and communication, this team ensures that the campus is ready to respond effectively to emergencies.
Public safety is not primarily about enforcement—it’s about prevention, preparedness, and partnership. We encourage all members of our community to engage with us, report concerns, and participate in safety initiatives. By working together, we can maintain a secure campus where learning, research, and innovation can thrive.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. Your safety is our priority, and we are here for you.
