Returning Student Process
Eligibility to Apply as a Returning Student:
Undergraduate students requesting to return to º£½ÇÉçÇø Channel Islands after more than three semesters away (not to include winter or summer) without having a leave of absence on file, are considered returning students.
Returning students will not need to re-apply for admission through Cal State Apply. For Extended University Programs please reach out to ext@csuci.edu for instructions and details.
Note: Any student who has been academically disqualified will have to go through the formal reinstatement process prior to being readmitted. If you have been disqualified, please visit this page: /academics/appeals/reinstatement.htm
Deadline for Submission:
Fall 2025 Returning Students: August 15, 2025
Checklist – Required Documents/Procedures (due by deadline):
- Use the following Preparation Checklist to help you prepare before you apply for the returning student process.
- Meet with an Academic Advisor to submit the returning student application via the Welcome Back form. To set up an appointment, please visit Academic Advising's website for contact information.
- Official transcript(s) required from all colleges attended after leaving º£½ÇÉçÇøCI, regardless of grades earned.
- Students must resolve all outstanding obligations and/or holds (i.e. Library fines, Accounting holds, Conduct holds, etc.) prior to registration.
Processing Time Periods:
Typically April - August for fall semester return and October - January for spring semester return.
To apply for the returning student process you will need to meet with an Academic Advisor to submit the application via the Welcome Back form. You may schedule a virtual advising appointment to go over your academic requirements with an advisor.
Enrollment/Registration Procedures:
Once your application is processed, you will receive an e-mail notification with information about your enrollment appointment. You must enroll in the term for which you are approved to return. If you do not enroll, you will be discontinued as an active student and have to apply for the returning student process in a future semester.
