Types of Consultants at the WMC:

  • Peer/Graduate Student Consultant in Training: Undergraduate and graduate peer consultants, who are training to provide writing and communication support
  • Peer/Graduate Student Consultant: Trained undergraduate peer or graduate consultants, who provide writing and communication support
  • Advanced Consultant: WMC consultants, who have been promoted due to exceptional tutoring performance
  • Lead Consultant: WMC consultants, who have been promoted due to exceptional tutoring performance and interest in leadership and administration
  • Multiliteracy Professional: Experienced consultants, who have been trained at the WMC to provide writing and communication support for two or more years
  • Grant Lead (STEM Writing Initiative; Green Initiative; Caminos Initiative): WMC professionals, who have Masters or higher degree and work professionally in the WMC providing administrative support. They are funded by external grants provided by the U.S. Department of Education, Green Family Foundation, Caminos Grant in the School of Education.

    I am confident in assisting students in research-based, creative, and argumentative writing. I am most familiar with the MLA and APA citation styles. In regards to the writing process, I am comfortable assisting students in brainstorming, outlining, revising, etc.

    Despite being a Biology major, I quite enjoy creative writing and writing argumentative essays.

    Aside from English, I speak Spanish and intermediate French.

I mostly use the Chicago citation style in my field, but I am very familiar with APA, MLA, and more. I also specialize in personal statements and graduate-level work.

    I love helping students realize the depth of their own knowledge and learning from them! Getting to tutor across disciplines is one of my favorite things about the WMC.

As a writer/communicator, I always attentively listen to others to make sure I understand what they say and offer the best feedback/reply I can. I like to be as detailed as possible when I write to make sure the reader always understands what I write about. The most important thing I do is insert myself into my writing to give it a purpose and some character.

    I have experience working with students in all stages of the writing process, and especially enjoy the brainstorming and idea generating stage. I have worked with students on personal statements, research papers and presentations, rhetorical analysis, and creative and journalistic writing. My goal is to assist students with their writing abilities as well as empower them to feel a sense of confidence in their writer's voice. I am most familiar with Chicago and MLA citation styles, but have experience with APA as well. Looking forward to working with you all!

    In my free time I love playing the flute and piano, spending time in nature, and reading short stories and graphic novels.

    I鈥檝e always read literature, but what first inspired me to write of my own accord was encountering internet horror stories (鈥渃reepypastas鈥) as a teenager. I thought many of them were morbidly interesting but written poorly, and that I could do better (I couldn鈥檛 at the time).

    I鈥檓 bilingual with my second language being Spanish. I learned and studied Spanish in a classroom setting for years to the point where I earned a seal of biliteracy, but my speaking grammar isn鈥檛 perfect. I can read, understand, and write in Spanish fluently.
